Demons of Sadness…!!!
As
Human beings we have countless dimensions in our mind. In those different
dimensions we have an army of darkness. The demons of darkness have always been
part of our life. Those demons always possess us by their multitudinous characteristics.
Simply, we are humans and we have dark sides, part of our life.
I am
talking about the negativity we carry in the form of thoughts, guilt, behavior,
expectations, disappointment, sadness, pain, aversion, grief, loss, anger and
feelings throughout our life. There are six basic emotions described by Paul
Ekman. They are as follows: Anger, Disgust, Fear, Happiness, Surprise and
Sadness.
As I
have described, Demons of Sadness. The first question arises in mind, what is
Sadness? The word “sadness” is not new to us. We all are very familiar with it.
Some of you are reading this because they are sad now. So, why we feel it and
what actually sadness is? Mostly when we
say “Not in Mood” means we are sad. Sadness is something that makes us feel
low, angry, negative and weird sometimes. There might be thousands of reasons
for being sad. Sometimes, people gets sad for ridiculous reasons.
Definitely,
there are some dark and harsh reasons behind the sadness of people. There may
be some life events, childhood incidents like mental, physical and sexual
abuse, parental issues and social isolation. Some natural disasters like
cancer, accidents or health issues. Torture from society, relationship
problems, sudden deaths and financial problems. These all are the causes which
amplifies the demons of sadness in our mind.
In
teenagers the main reason for being sad is the obsession towards different
things and tendency to always compare with others. These are the major two
factors behind sadness. We have everything to simply live but we want the
things which either our friends have or the society and television marketing
those artificial and fake things. Sometimes we want something just because some
x person is having it. Otherwise we don’t care at all. If you get it then you
are happy or you are the most depressed, saddest, hopeless, helpless, gloomy
and poor person in the world.
Another
reason for sadness in teenagers is breakup and their love affairs. They
suddenly start liking someone and at their age every single attraction is their
“True Love”. They can’t even think properly why they want, what they want! You
like someone and you want someone in your life it doesn’t mean you will get
back the same response. It causes temporary sadness and sometimes leads to
depression.
Sadness
is the normal mental process which is necessary for every individual. Sometimes
it works as the spark in life. People tackle it in different ways. The basic
difference between sadness and depression is, sadness is temporary while
depression is mental illness, an abnormal emotion which changes every single
emotion causes restlessness, mood swings and either insomnia or hypersomnia.
If you
take sadness as a motivation, then it works positively and helps you grow
stronger mentally. On the contrary, it would make your life hell. It depends
how you want your life to be otherwise sadness is just an emotion. Its ok to be
sad sometimes. No one can always be happy ever. For healthy life it is
necessary to feel every emotion. It makes the perfect balance for our mental
health. We are avoiding sadness instead of accept grief, feel it, live it and
move on through it.
“Nothing
is permanent” is the universal truth of this wicked world. These demons we
create and carry in our mind are also temporary. We just don’t let them go and
sometimes we just don’t know to trigger them. There are several ways to kill
these demons. The another bitter truth about we humans, we cannot control the
flow of our thoughts even if we are dying to stop it. May be we cannot stop but
definitely we can refrain from it somewhat.
I
think only thing we have to do is just accept the circumstances, feel it and
cry even. May be in future you would laugh on these moments. Interact with new
people, smile even if you are in worst period of life. That fraction of seconds
when you smile makes huge difference mentally. Click selfies with your sad,
poor face. It’s life and it will definitely have its ups and downs. So what,
its ok. If you want to kill your demons, then just be happy that is all.
“Don’t
wait for what is to be come, make awesome whatever you have.”
