13.BHANGARH: THE CURSED KINGDOM

India, the country of ancient civilization. India has always been prominent for fascinating and mysterious history, myths, notorious kings and their battles and superstition. India has remarkable history about unexplainable things and haunted places. One of the most famous place in this list is the Ghost Town – Bhangarh.
Bhangarh is situated in Alwar district of state Rajasthan. The history of this town is quite interesting. It has huge palace, mosques and grand temples. The Bhangarh fort is built by the King Man Singh in 17th century. It was joyous and glorious kingdom once. Now there is nothing left there. The Great empire of 17th century has become the deserted and spooky place.
The place is popular for the supernatural incidents and paranormal beings present there. There are various incidents associated with the deserted town and cursed fort.  The government of India has restricted this place and no one is allowed to enter that area before sunrise and after sunset.  The Archaeological Survey of India has put up a notice board at the entrance about no one is allowed to remain in the precincts of the fort at night.
There are different folklore and stories about the haunting Palace. But there are two most popular stories reflect the doom of the fort. The first one is, there was a monk named baba Balak Nath who lived there. Madho Singh was the ruler of Bhangarh at that time. He demanded a condition that no houses must be taller than his house and if the shadow of anything included fort fell in his house, that day would be the fall of the kingdom. According to some locals, Madho Singh had made some changes in his fort and due to that the reflection of his fort had fell on monk’s house. His curse was fulfilled and as he said eventually all kingdom was demolished. No structure is managed to survive the curse except the tomb of Balak Nath.
The another popular folk tale behind the fell of Bhangarh is, this tale about the magician and Ratnavati, the princess of Bhangarh. One day when the princess went on shopping with her friends in local market of Bhangarh, the wicked magician saw the princess Ratnavati and fell in love with her beauty. The princess was busy buying the scent on one of the shop. The magician conspired against the princess to marry her and spell the scent with magic, so he would get the princess. To satisfy his crave he offered her the spelled scent, which she found skeptical and threw it on the stone rock nearby. Due to that, rock rolling down towards him and crushed him. before his last breath came out he cursed the kingdom that, no human would ever be live here and Bhangarh would be destroyed. In the war with Mughals all the people including princess were killed. From that day people believe that whole area is cursed and haunted and no one crosses the boundary after the dusk and before sunrise.
There are several others stories associated with this place. Whoever tries to enter this place in night, never come back. People claimed to hear weird echoes and see the spirit of magician wandering in night, Group of people had seen someone sited on one of the places which was totally isolated and there was no way out there. People had felt death experiences there. Still no one knows what exactly about that place is.

I don’t know all these tales, stories and beliefs are true or just superstition. But if the word “haunted” excites you then you must visit this place. There is no scientific proof about this place and creepy sightings yet. May be all these things are fiction, only creation of human mind but still it’s a secret dwelling in darkness.
